The NHSC provides contracted support assistance with travel to attend job interviews (referred to as “Site Visits”) at NHSC-approved sites with the requisite HPSA score for your class. You are entitled to a maximum of $1,200 to cover all allowable Site Visit expenses. Please note that this is your total allotment for ALL approved Site Visits, you will not receive $1,200 for each visit. Please refer to the Reimbursement tab for additional expense reimbursement requirements.
A standard Site Visit is typically approved for three days and two nights; two travel days to get to and from the Site Visit clinic and one interview day. The approved length of time for site visits may be extended for participants who have been approved to visit more than one clinic location within close proximity. The length of time each participant is approved for their site visit travel is determined by the NHSC, not the NHSC contractor. If you have any questions related to your approved length of travel for your site visit, please contact your NHSC Regional Analyst.
A site visit is considered local if the clinical interview site is within 50 miles of your origin address. Local site visits are not reimbursable, and participants participating in local site visits will not be eligible to use the NHSC travel allotment.
All site visits will be completed in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations and NHSC policies located within the Reference tab.
The NHSC has secured contracted support to provide travel and relocation logistics support that is both responsive and in compliance with the Federal Travel Regulation and program guidelines. After you have submitted your request for travel through the NHSC Customer Service Portal, and it has been approved by the NHSC, you should schedule an appointment with a Travel Coordinator who will work with you one-on-one to ensure that you are informed of all the travel regulations and guidelines. The Travel Coordinator assigned to your appointment can make complete arrangements for all your site visit and/or relocation needs.
