Federal Funded

This option minimizes out-of-pocket costs and allows CivilityMS to arrange all relocation logistics.  A conditional approval allows you to discuss this option with Civility MS. However, you must have Full/Standard approval to move forward with this option.

Under the Federal Funded Option:

  • Household goods are packed and transported by an approved contracted moving company, container company, or rental truck/trailer provider.
  • The contractor selects and pays the service provider directly.
  • Household goods may be shipped from one origin address to one destination address only.
  • Shipment must not exceed 18,000 pounds within the contiguous United States (CONUS) or outside the contiguous U.S. (OCONUS).
  • The distance between origin and destination must be at least 50 miles.

Participant and approved family member travel reimbursement is based on allowable expenses outlined on this website and requires submission of an expense report through the CivilityMS Travel Management Portal.

Maximum allowable relocation expenses:

  • CONUS: Not to exceed $10,000
  • OCONUS: Not to exceed $25,000

CONUS Moves

  • Reimbursement includes the cost of the move, up to 90 days of origin storage, and related ground or air travel for the participant and approved family members.
  • If total relocation costs are less than the $10,000 allotment, any remaining funds revert to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and may not be applied to future relocations.

OCONUS Moves

  • Reimbursement includes the cost of the move, up to 90 days of origin storage, shipment of one privately owned vehicle, air shipment of hold baggage up to 400 pounds, and related ground or air travel.
  • If total relocation costs are less than the $25,000 allotment, any remaining funds revert to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and may not be applied to future relocations.
